Earth day – April 22, 2022

Earth Day is a worldwide event held on April 22nd to help raise awareness about various environmental concerns. The event began in 1970 when the U.S. Senate passed the resolution “Recognizing the importance of environmental education.” The first Earth Day celebration was held in 1970, organized by Denis Hayes. (This year’s theme is “Protect Our Species,” so expect to see events focused on endangered species protection.)

The Earth Day Network is driving awareness and action across the globe for a healthy, sustainable future. Their efforts are focused on stopping climate change, reducing pollution, building sustainable communities, and protecting nature. The organization hosts Earth Day events in over 200 countries around the world. The events feature speakers, exhibitors, educational activities, and more.

With Earth Day approaching, now is a great time to explore the many ways you can participate in environmental events. Whether you’re interested in volunteering, attending an educational lecture, or exploring the great outdoors, there are a variety of ways you can get involved in Earth Day celebrations. The events listed below are some of the many ways you can celebrate and participate in Earth Day this year.
